Find out how much Sterling Real Estate is worth

It comes as no surprise to local residents that in 2005, CNN/Money and Money magazine ranked Sterling, Virginia as one of the best places to live nationwide.
The thriving community located only about 27 miles outside of the nation's capitol offers its nearly 50,000 residents excellent schools, low crime, reasonably priced homes with continuously rising appreciation rates, and a high quality of life.

Sterling saw its population boom mainly between the 1960s and 1980s, so most real estate dates to that time. However, there are many new homes, as the region has been growing quickly in recent years.

The average home sells for $239,000, which buys a three or four bedroom single-family home. Available properties range from brick front homes, brick ramblers, town homes, row house and attached home units, and apartments in high rise or complex buildings. Most homes in this predominantly owner-occupied community range between $170,000 and $330,000.

As part of Loudon County, residents of Sterling send their children to prestigious public K-12 schools. Local students perform very well on national standardized tests, and most graduate from high school and go on to pursue a college degree.

A community that cares about education, Sterling is home to a higher than average number of residents with a bachelor's or higher degree than nationwide. Education spending here is higher as well. The average household income in Sterling is nearly $80,000. The area is home to many young, upwardly mobile singles, along with college students, and families with children. The median age of a Sterling resident is 32.

Real estate is predominantly owner-occupied, but there are some renters. The average apartment leases for $1,225 per month, which is nearly twice the national average rate.

Sterling is not only conveniently located for commuters, but also for shoppers and restaurant goers, who have access to some of the nation's best shops and eateries located at nearby Tyson's Corner. Plenty of outdoor and cultural activities are also available to area residents.
