Find out how much Spotsylvania Real Estate is worth

Spotsylvania, Virginia, an area rich in history, is nestled midway between the nation's capital to the north, and the state capital to the south. Spotsylvania is in close proximity to Fredericksburg, which also offers plentiful historic sites for residents to explore. Home to some 30,000 residents, this county is strikingly beautiful with its rolling hills and peaceful country living.

Friendly people, plentiful outdoor recreation, excellent shopping – especially for antiques – and affordable homes are the hallmarks of Spotsylvania. Numerous antiques and unique one-of-a-kind items can be found at small shops throughout the region. Residents can play outdoors with their children year around at Lake Anna, the Rappahannock River, and other nearby lakes, streams, and community parks.

Public schools in the area are relatively good performers. Alternative education is available at several quality private schools. Most high school students graduate and many go on to pursue a college degree, often at a nearby university such as George Mason or George Washington.

In 2004, Spotsylvania was named the 19th fastest-growing county in the United States. This has drawn numerous custom builders to the region who are now adding properties to the existing real estate market.

The average home in Spotsylvania sells for about $200,000, and is typically a three or four bedroom single family home. While a handful of properties are older, most of the market is made of real estate developed in the past decade. Row houses, a few small apartment buildings, and some larger estates on wooded lots can also be found.

Life in this quiet, clean air region of little crime is marked by numerous historic sites and monuments. One Civil War battle was fought at the site of the Spotsylvania Court House, lasting two weeks and resulting in 30,000 casualties. The area today is preserved under the auspices of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Military Park, which also includes miles of preserved ground that marks another large battlefield.
