Find out how much Libertytown Real Estate is worth

Libertytown, Maryland is a small town of just under 200 residents located in the eastern part of Frederick County, Maryland at the intersection of Maryland routes 26 and 75.

In 1782, John Young renamed Duke's Woods "Libertytown" in the fervor that followed the Revolutionary War victory. The town was laid out in lots for sale. The town's population had grown to support a physician, businesses and a school. John Young had no family, so he left all the land and homes to Richard Coale, son of a third generation William Coale.

Many of the residents of the town are homeowners, but about a third of the residents are renters. In February 2006, the average home in Libertytown sold for $330,000. Homes available in the area feature historic stone homes on large lots.

The town offers residents excellent public schools in which to enroll their children. Public schools are served by Frederick County's public school district, which boasts good performance on national standardized tests and high graduation rates. Student to teacher ratios are low, and most students go on to pursue a college degree.

Residents are a mixture of home owners and renters, and young single professionals and families with children. The average household income is on par with the national average at about $44,000. The unemployment rate is less than the national average, and the majority of the residents are professional workers, commuting to the surrounding area.
