The quiet suburban town of Glenn Dale, Maryland, lies less than 15 miles from the nation's capital. With a land area of approximately 7.4 square miles, this culturally diverse neighborhood is predominantly made up of homeowner families.

The real estate market within Glenn Dale is dominated by single-family homes, although a handful of properties in condominiums, town house developments and empty lots of residential land are also available. In January 2006, the average home here sold for $527,300 and is a colonial or rambler style brick home of three or four bedrooms. There are older, historic homes of four bedrooms or more that sell for more than $800,000. Some homes in Glenn Dale are located on spacious lots of more than 30,000 square feet.

The town is strategically located near several highways and freeways including interstates 95 and 97. It offers its residents membership to various active community groups, and outdoor recreation at three parks.

There are plenty of prestigious colleges and universities within reach of students who wish to pursue a higher education, including the University of Maryland-College Park and Georgetown University. Local K-12 public schools are relatively good performers compared to other area schools. Teacher to student ratios are favorable, which translates into more personal attention on each pupil; most students graduate from high school.

The percentage of people without work in Glenn Dale is lower than the national unemployment rate. The area is thriving economically, as job growth exceeds by nearby twice the rate of job creation in the average American community.
Attractions in the Glenn Dale area include museums and golf courses just to name a few. Shopping, dinning, and the urban rush of cosmopolitan Washington are within short distance.

One historic gem within the community is the Marietta Mansion, once owned by Gabriel Duvall, who served as Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court for more than 20 years starting in 1811. The mansion grounds now cover 25 acres of lawn and wooded terrain and are owned by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission and available for visitation.
