Dulles Real Estate

Dulles is an unincorporated area of Loudoun County, Virginia, about 30 miles outside of Washington, DC. Home to the Washington Dulles International Airport, one of the nation's fastest growing air hubs, Dulles is a thriving business-oriented community nestled between various major roads and home to numerous business complexes.

A modern neighborhood built since the 1950s and having boomed since the 1980s, Dulles offers mostly new real estate. The average property sells for about $400,000 and is a single-family home of three or four bedrooms, typically built in colonial style. Most properties for sale range in price between $170,000 and $650,000, with a few larger or historic homes selling for upwards of $1 million.

Local residents in this low crime community are among the most educated not just in the region but the country, based on the percentage of those with a bachelor's degree or higher. They are also high income earners, with a more than double the national average income of nearly $100,000. Most residents are employed by federal agencies in the nation's capital, or the technology hub of neighboring Fairfax County. Dulles is home to the headquarters of business giants such as AOL, Orbital Sciences Corporation, and MCI.

The area has excellent K-12 schools, and is close to higher education institutions such as George Mason University and the University of Maryland, among others. The community benefits of high quality of life. Plenty of shopping opportunities, especially at the chic Tysons Corner malls, are available. Dining, recreational activities, and culture also abound.

Dulles is also relatively close to various national parks make it a good place for nature lovers, who are in short driving distance from kayaking, canoeing, fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, trekking, and picnicking areas. It is the capitol's gateway to the picturesque Shenandoah Valley, which lies only about 30 miles away from Dulles off Interstate 66. The Dulles community derived its name from the airport; the airport in turn takes its name from former United States Secretary of State John Foster Dulles.
