Colesville Real Estate

Colesville, Maryland, is a historic neighborhood covering nine square miles of what used to be farms, but have long ago become modern developments. A culturally diverse community of more than 20,000 residents, Colesville remains peaceful, with a small town atmosphere and virtually no crime. It is popular among families with children, although some young single professional workers also live here.

Most real estate in Colesville was built around the 1980s and is comprised of single-family properties of three or four bedrooms, typically built in rambler or colonial style. Some row houses are available, as well, as are larger and smaller units. The average unit sells for about $455,000, and has a fairly high appreciation rate. Properties for sale range in price mostly between $330,000 and $650,000. However, because of the wide variety of home types and sizes, prices can go as low as under $100,000 and as high as $1.3 million.

Colesville residents can send their children to excellent K-12 schools part of the Montgomery County Public School System, which is ranked as one of the best in the country. Students here get much special attention from their teachers and class sizes are relatively small compared to the average American community. Many high school graduates from the area go on to pursue a college degree.

Residents enjoy four community parks, and numerous historic landmarks. Colonial settlers moved into Colesville in the early 1700s. Today, homes like a mill and brick house dating back to 1799, which is still a private residence, are still standing. Several other old mills also remain in existence.

Colesville residents are among the most highly educated in the region, with 59 percent having a bachelor's degree or higher. A relatively affluent region, the average Colesville household has an income of about $73,000, which is three-quarters higher than the national average household income.
